New buses purchased from Calgary, refurbished to run on T3 Transit sytem
Refurbished buses that will run on the T3 Transit service in Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford were unveiled Wednesday morning.
The 10 buses were purchased from the City of Calgary and upgraded to run on the Charlottetown transit system.
The buses have free Wi-Fi, security cameras and bike racks, in addition to being wheelchair accessible and being equipped with both kneeling and ramp extension ability, the company said in a news release.
On the front of the buses is also a digital display screen that shows which route and destination the bus is running.
The federal government invested more than $500,000 — more than half of the project's total costs — under its national infrastructure plan.
The provincial government contributed more than $250,000, while the remaining cost was shared between municipalities of Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford.
