Sparks got into insulation where construction crews were doing renovations, says Tim Mayme
Confederation Court Mall in Charlottetown was temporarily evacuated early Wednesday morning after a small fire on the roof.
The Charlottetown Fire Department was called to the mall just before 8 a.m.
Construction crews were doing work on the roof of the mall where the fire started.
"Some sparks had got into the insulation and caused a small fire that was extinguished before we got there," said Tim Mayme, deputy fire chief.
"It was just basically smoke removal at that point and resetting the system."
Damages were reported to be minor and people were allowed back into the building around 9 a.m.
There were no injuries reported.
