Details about construction, detour at Tuesday night's meeting in York
York residents will have a chance to hear details Tuesday night on the $650,000 project to replace the local bridge.
"It has got some deterioration of the concrete walls [and] the steel girders are corroded," explained Darrell Evans, assistant director of capital projects with the P.E.I. Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy,
"The deck has got some deterioration as well. It is going to take about six to eight weeks — that's generally what these structures take."
Residents will also find out details about plans for a detour that will be put in place while the York Bridge is being replaced. The replacement project is expected to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The public meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the York Community Centre.
