The federal government announced millions of dollars for repairs and improvements at 10 small harbours in eastern P.E.I. on Tuesday.
The work includes building an L-shaped wharf at Annandale, south of Souris, along with additional armour stone protection in that harbour.
The overall spending includes $7.2 million this year, and an additional $4.8 million in future years at three of the harbours.
"It's about investing in people, promoting inclusive growth and building stronger communities," said local MP Lawrence MacAulay in a news release.
"The work carried out will not only renew and maintain the infrastructure that is essential to the region, but also stimulate job opportunities that will benefit fishermen and support our municipalities."
MacAulay made the announcement late Tuesday morning in Annandale.
