Carrie Fisher — beloved by fans for her recurring role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies — is coming to Edmonton.
Fisher, 59, will appear Sept. 24 and 25 at the fifth annual Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo, organizers said Wednesday.
She appeared in the first Star Wars movie in 1977, plus The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and Return of the Jedi in 1983. Last year, she was back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fisher's other film credits include roles in The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally.
The daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actor Debbie Reynolds, Fisher is also known for her semi-autobiographical novels including Postcards from the Edge.
She has spoken and written about her struggles with addiction and mental health issues.
The comic and entertainment expo runs from Sept. 23 through 25 at the Edmonton Expo Centre, 7515 118th Ave. on the Northlands grounds.
Show organizers also announced Wednesday that Brian Herring, the puppeteer behind roly-poly droid character BB-8 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will also be at this year's event.
