Bowden man arrested following chase that ended with fiery crash

RCMP were responding to reports of a domestic assault when the suspect fled
A 35-year-old Bowden man is in custody following a brief car chase that ended in a fiery collision with a train.
Innisfail RCMP responded to reports of a domestic assault in Penhold around 7:15 p.m. on Friday and found a man on scene brandishing a knife.
The suspect jumped in a car and fled, with RCMP giving chase.
The pursuit didn't last long, with the suspect making a sudden sharp turn off the highway into a CP train. There was a small fire as a result of the crash, but police pulled the suspect from the car and the fire was extinguished.
According to the RCMP, the suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital. He has been arrested and charges are pending.
