James Alexander Parent has been released into a Calgary neighbourhood after serving a six-year sentence for multiple convictions including sexual assault with a weapon, police said in a release Friday evening.
The 58-year-old was released from Bowden Institution after serving a sentence for sexual assault causing bodily harm, disguise with intent, unlawful confinement, break and enter, uttering threats and mischief.
He also has past convictions for a violent sexual assault in 1987 and sexual offences against a child.
Police say he is 6'3" tall, about 200 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair and hazel eyes.
Calgary police say they release information on high-risk offenders after balancing public safety with privacy issues but warn against any sort of vigilante action.
