A court appearance for Edward Downey, who is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Sara Baillie and her five-year-old daughter Taliyah Marsman, has been put over until Aug. 24.
Downey was charged after the child's body was found on a rural property east of Chestermere on July 14.
Her mother was found dead in their Panorama Hills basement suite earlier that week.
Court documents show Downey has a lengthy criminal history that began in 1989 and involves mostly pimping, drug trafficking and weapons offences.
