There's no date yet for the supplemental budget this fall, Premier Dwight Ball told reporters Thursday morning.

Ball and his cabinet held the press conference following a cabinet retreat at The Rooms.

Ball said the Liberals are still working out exactly when the budget would be released.

Budget 2016, released in April, painted a dire picture of Newfoundland and Labrador's financial situation, revealing a $1.83 billion budget deficit, which Finance Minister Cathy Bennett expected would reach $2.2 billion.

That budget included a wave of austerity measures, tax and fee hikes and public sector layoffs.

Bennett said that budget was the first of a three-step plan fiscal plan, that included more financial measures released in the fall, widely expected to include layoffs to the public sector.

Some of Budget 2016's austerity measures have since been repealed, such as the move to close libraries, cuts to health services, and court closures.
