Board will implement report released earlier this year
The eastern P.E.I. town of Montague is hoping to move along quickly with some development proposals now that a new board has been appointed to oversee the work.
The town council voted in the seven members of the new Montague Economic Development Corporation by secret ballot out of a pool of 15 volunteers who stepped forward to serve.
Montague Mayor Richard Collins said he's pleased with the diversity of the people who came forward.
"There's names that haven't been involved with anything in Montague before and there's names of the past as well," eh said.
Board chair Les Warrington is a newcomer to the Montague area. The other members of the board are:
- David McGuire.
- Peter Doucette.
- Edgar Dewar.
- Mike Redmond.
- Debbie Johnston.
- Greg Jobe.
The board will work to implement the recommendations in a development report released earlier this year.
Collins said he hopes some of those recommendations can be implemented immediately, but others are far-reaching and will take more time and money.
