A section of the Legacy Trail closed because of grizzly bear activity was slated to be reopened Friday afternoon.
Visitors are being urged to exercise usual precautions, including carrying bear spray, travelling in groups and making noise along the trails.
The trail was shut down from the Canmore visitor centre to the Banff park gate.

Cyclists were being rerouted onto the opposite side of the Trans-Canada Highway.
The closure came after a grizzly bear was seen feeding next to the highway. Officials said the buffaloberry crop came in early this year, drawing in bears.
On Friday afternoon, a warning was issued for the Canmore Nordic Centre and Grassi Lakes Day Use Area due to wildlife activity.
