A woman who was killed when her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Deerfoot Trail on Thursday night might have been having a medical emergency, police say.
At about 8 p.m., a southbound Ford Mustang coming from Stoney Trail went over the median, colliding with a northbound Chevrolet Malibu coming from Country Hills Boulevard.
The 67-year-old driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 49-year-old woman, who was alone in the Chevrolet, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
"Police are investigating the possibility of an onset of a medical emergency as a contributing factor in this collision," police said in a release.
Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call the police traffic unit at 403-567-4000.
