Trial date will be set in August
The man accused of murdering 24-year-old Jessica Newman — who was missing for two months in 2015 before her body was discovered — will stand trial on second-degree murder.
It comes after a six-day preliminary inquiry was held for 31-year-old Kevin Rubletz, who had been in conflict with the victim over the custody of their son.
The evidence presented at the preliminary inquiry is protected by a publication ban.
The case started out as a missing persons investigation.
Newman was last seen on March 10, 2015, in the southeast community of Forest Lawn. A work crew discovered her body in a ditch in a rural area north of the city on May 4.
A trial date will be set on August 19.
