Dylan Menzie makes final 4 in Searchlight Contest

Island musician 1 of 4 artists to make it to the final round of national music contest

P.E.I. musician Dylan Menzie has made it to the final round of CBC Music's Searchlight contest.
The final four competitors were revealed this morning on CBC Radio's q.
"Anyone who loves Joel Plaskett will love Dylan and I don't know anyone that doesn't love Joel Plaskett," said CBC Radio 2 host Rich Terfry.
Of Menzie's entry, Kenya, Terfry said, "It's extremely catchy. It's the most up-tempo song in the final four, and it's completely irresistable."

'Like getting drafted in the NHL'

Menzie said he couldn't believe it when he was told he made it to the final round.
"The chances of making it that far in the contest, it's really like getting drafted in the NHL," he told told Mainstreet P.E.I.'s Karen Mair.
"I'm hoping that we're going to take it home — I would have no words if we actually won. I can't even imagine."
The other three finalists are Teo Milea(external link) of Toronto, Andi(external link) of Caledon, Ont., and Desirée Dawson(external link) of Surrey, B.C.
The four will compete for the winning spot on CBC-TV on Sunday, May 22 at 8 p.m. AT.
