Police have charged 28-year-old Jessica Lee Ann Praill in the stabbing death of her mother in the second such case in the southern Alberta city.
Police responded to a call at 2306 18 St. N. at 9:40 p.m. Thursday to find Shelley Kristine Praill in life-threatening condition.
The 54-year-old was transported to hospital but died soon after. A Calgary autopsy determined the mother died as a result of a stab wound.
Her daughter, Jessica Lee Ann Praill, was arrested at the scene.

Second case in last week

Police believe an argument led to the stabbing.
Praill is charged with one count of second-degree murder and remains in custody awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.
Last week, Lisa Freihaut was charged with second-degree murder in the death of her mother Irene Carter.
Police believe Freihaut and her mother, 78, were arguing over finances when a physical altercation resulted in Carter's death.
