Lisa Freihaut is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her mother Irene Carter, Lethbridge police said in a release Friday evening.
It was just two weeks ago that Freihaut, of Calgary, was making a public plea for information in the case.
"We are reaching out to the public for help. If you have any information about what happened to my mom please contact the Lethbridge Police Services so they can put my mom to rest peacefully, and we can start to heal," Freihaut said April 7.
Lethbridge police found 78-year-old Carter dead in her home after being called to the 300 block of Normandy Road South on Jan. 17.
An autopsy determined she died of multiple stab wounds.
Police believe Freihaut and Carter were arguing over finances when a physical altercation resulted in Carter's death.
Earlier this week police said there were looking to speak with an Airdrie woman of interest in the case.
Freihaut is in custody in Calgary.
