Extra kegs of Guinness on hand to serve thirsty customers
An Irish pub in Regina, O'Hanlon's, bought extra kegs of Guinness to ensure it meets the demand expected for St. Patrick's Day.
March 17 is the busiest day of the year at O'Hanlons and Kurtis Tokarchuk, one of the managers, said Thursday they expect to sell more than ever before.
In 2015, when St. Patrick's Day fell on a Tuesday, the pub sold a record amount of beer.
"Last year we went through 74 kegs of Guinness," Tokarchuk said. "This year I brought in over 20 more than that, so hopefully we can beat that record by a bit of a margin."
Irish dancers and a pipe band will be featured at the pub, to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland.
Tokarchuk said it would be difficult to predict how many people will be taking part in St. Patrick's Day because many patrons enjoy visiting different bars.
"Regina has changed in the last few years," he said. "[There] is a lot more of a pub crawl style. We can hold 300 plus 250 on our patio, but with the amount of people pub crawling — coming and going, going to work, coming back — it's pretty tough to imagine how many."
