Irish dancers are extra busy on St. Patrick's day. This group of dancers will be on a Regina pub crawl all evening.

The group, from the Prairie Gael School of Irish Dance, performed during CBC Radio's program The Morning Edition.

The instructor, Emily Armer, has two theories for why Irish dancers don't move their arms. Some say it is that kitchens are crowded, so they have to keep their arms down while dancing. The second theory is that during the English occupation, the Irish weren't allowed to dance. But if they didn't move their arms, they could boldly do some fancy footwork without the patrolling officers seeing them through the window. The truth is that no one knows for sure.

The girls, Leshia Rybchuk, Mariel Boucher, Lauren Boucher and Petra Ottenbreit will perform at schools during the day, then the oldest ones will be at Shannon's Irish Pub at 5:30 p.m. CST. They'll finish up at 9:15 p.m. at O'Hanlon's with eight stops in between.
