A second person has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Levi Marance at a northwest Calgary apartment complex.
Police were called about a stabbing in an apartment building at Northmount Drive and 19th Street N.W. at about 1:30 a.m. MT Sunday.
When officers arrived they found a seriously injured 18-year-old. Marance, who is from Red Deer, was taken to hospital with critical injuries and later died.
Two males, aged 17 and 18, are charged with second-degree murder.
The organization that owns and runs the complex, McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, issued a release Monday calling the incident tragic. The victim and the accused were guests of a resident, according to the organization.
The building offers affordable housing to the public and is an independent living facility for 18- to 24-year-olds.
