Eric Deslauriers, Sûreté du Québec officer, charged in teen's death

Deslauriers released until his next court appearance on March 10

A 45-year-old Sûreté du Québec officer has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen last year in Ste-Adèle, 70 km northwest of Montreal.
Police were responding to a call about a stolen vehicle on Jan. 22, 2014.
A car chase ensued and ended near a high school where a 17-year-old male youth was shot and later died.
The Sûreté du Québec officer, Eric Deslauriers, is facing charges of manslaughter and discharging a weapon inappropriately.
Deslauriers was released until his next court appearance March 10.
Montreal police handled the investigation, as per the province's protocol, since the fatal shooting involved an officer from the Sûreté du Québec.
