The fatal stabbing happened at about 2:35 a.m. in front of 360 Elgin St., an address shared by the bars The Standard and The Living Room.
Jemmie, 21, was stabbed in the stomach and was taken to hospital, but lost his vital signs en route, paramedics said. He was pronounced dead later Saturday morning.
No arrests have yet been made.
On Sunday night, Ottawa police released a still taken from a taxi camera of a man they called an "important witness" to Jemmie's death.
Police said Monday they had talked to the man, who is not a suspect, along with the taxi driver.
Police sources told CBC News Jemmie was intoxicated at The Living Room and became involved in a fight inside. He was kicked out of the bar and became involved in a fight on Elgin Street soon after, sources said.
The major crimes unit is leading the investigation. Jemmie's death is Ottawa's fourth homicide of 2014.
Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call the major crimes unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493, or to report an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS (8477).
