Surrey Sikh temple leader's wife, Narinder, remains in a critical condition
The president of Brookside Sikh Temple in Surrey, B.C., has been charged with attempted murder, while his wife remains on life support after being attacked over the weekend.
Baldev Singh Kalsi, 66, leader of the Gurdwara Sahib Brookside, had been charged with aggravated assault on Monday, but the charges were upgraded Tuesday, according to a tweet by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
Kalsi was taken into police custody after his wife, Narinder, was found in severe medical distress at their home in South Surrey on Sunday.
Narinder Kalsi remains in hospital in critical condition.
