A man has been taken into custody after a woman is discovered with life-threatening injuries
The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over a case from Surrey RCMP, after a woman was found in severe medical distress in a home near the Surrey-Langley border on Sunday.
The woman was found at around noon in a house in the 19400 block of 32 Avenue in South Surrey, just blocks west of the Brookswood area of Langley.
IHIT's Sgt. Bari Emam said her injuries were life threatening, and she was airlifted to hospital.
“I can confirm that the injured woman is currently on life support and IHIT has taken conduct of this investigation," he said. "I can also confirm that we have one adult male in custody in relation to this incident."
No other details were available Sunday afternoon, he said.
An RCMP spokesperson said earlier that "it is believed that the male and the female are known to each other, however, that could change as the investigation unfolds."
No charges have yet been laid.
