The CBC Poetry Prize is open between April 1 and June 1

The 2025 CBC Poetry Prize will be accepting submissions between April 1 and June 1 at 4:59 p.m. ET (1:59 p.m. PT).
You can submit an original, unpublished poem or collection of poems. The submission will be judged as a whole and must be a maximum of 600 words (including titles). There is no minimum word requirement.
The winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, a two-week writing residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and have their work published on CBC Books.
Four finalists will win $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and have their poem or poetry collection published on CBC Books.

The 2024 winner of the CBC Poetry Prize was Rachel Robb for her poem Palimpsest County.
The CBC Literary Prizes have been supporting and celebrating Canadian writers since 1979. Past winners include Susan Musgrave, Lorna Crozier, Alison Pick, Michael Ondaatje and Carol Shields.
