June is Indigenous Book Club Month. CBC Books will publish a recommendation each day from an Indigenous writer for a book written by another Indigenous author.
Harold Johnson recommends Son of a Trickster by Eden Robinson.
"To be honest, it has been a while since I finished a book. Eden Robinson's Son of A Trickster changed that. She employs word craft so precise that every word bead is sewn in the exact right position to create a piece of art that allows me to see as well as feel the story. In Son of a Trickster the regular parts are as magical as the magic parts."
Cree lawyer and crown prosecutor Harold R. Johnson is the author of several books, including Firewater: How Alcohol Is Killing My People (and Yours), which was nominated for the Governor General's Literary Award.
