'I think it's magic' UK artist finds her passion — and love — making miniatures in Canada
Tiffany Monk is a multidisciplinary artist who now lives with her wife in rural Quebec
Tiffany Monk is a versatile multidisciplinary artist with a background in prop making, sculpting, and model making for film, TV and stop-motion animation. Originally from the UK, she came to Canada on a work visa and met her wife in Vancouver, BC. They packed up their minivan and drove across Canada, settling in a small art community in rural Quebec where she lives on top of a shop that makes handmade greeting cards.
She developed a passion for making tiny things after watching Best in Miniature in the summer of 2022. "I love transforming craft materials and found objects into miniature versions of objects and spaces that we recognise in everyday life. I think it's magic," says Tiffany. "Making miniatures combines building, design, painting, sculpting etc, so it's the perfect medium for exercising my creative muscles."
When she's not making tiny things, she plays acoustic guitar covers with her band the Hummingbirds at local farmer's markets and art shows — which, of course, inspired one of her favourite miniatures.
"I have a really broad artistic background and have many hobbies and passions. I think being able to draw inspiration from my wide range of interests and creative pursuits will help me come up with creative ideas that are worthy of the win."
