Second-hand sporting goods store manager DJ refuses to let anything bring him down.
One More Time is a new half-hour sitcom on CBC and CBC Gem that thrusts a ragtag crew of retail employees into the spotlight. Their workplace? A used sporting goods store.
The store is helmed by the hard-of-hearing DJ (D.J. Demers), a loveable leader adored by both his eclectic staff and their bargain-seeking clientele. Alongside by-the-books assistant manager Cynthia (Geri Hall) and a squad of sales people — Wayne (Dan Beirne), Jen (Elise Bauman), Keeran (Seran Sathiyaseelan) and Chris (Dayton Sinkia) — this motley crew tackles the daily dilemmas of making a small second-hand store work, often with hilarious consequences.
In an era dominated by online retail giants and huge superstores, every day at One More Time Sports s a zany battle for survival.
One More Time Premieres Tuesday, January 9 on CBC Gem, and on CBC TV at 9 p.m.
The cast and characters of One More Time
D.J. Demers as DJ
DJ is the manager of Korverton, Ontario's One More Time Sports. Affable and empathetic, he's the optimistic spirit behind the second-hand sporting goods store. A former pro hockey player, DJ left the ice and soon found a new family in his OMT team. His desire for community informs not only how he treats OMT's customers, but all Korvertonians. DJ is also hard-of-hearing and has worn hearing aids since the age of four. While his disability can get him into awkward situations, it also fosters DJ's positive outlook and persistence, which have made him a well-loved member and leader of the community.
Geri Hall as Cynthia
Cynthia is the assistant manager of One More Time Sports, with a suspiciously dark past. As DJ's work spouse, Cynthia encompasses everything DJ isn't — she's the practical, no nonsense, number crunching backbone of the business.
Daniel Beirne as Wayne
Wayne is the longest serving sales associate at One More Time Sports. Having hawked soccer cleats and football helmets for the last nine years, he's the most jaded employee at the store, and his daily double-digit breaks at work reflect that.
Elise Bauman as Jen
Jen is a sales associate at One More Time Sports. A strong-willed athlete who dominated every sport her high school and mid-sized city had to offer, Jen is now embarking on her biggest athletic feat yet: javelin throwing at the Olympics. When she isn't heaving around her trusted javelin, Britney Spear, Jen works at OMT to fund her athletic career.
Seran Sathiyaseelan as Keeran
Keeran is One More Time Sports' youngest sales associate. His naive nature makes and his perpetual teenage horniness makes him susceptible to pranks and teasing from his older coworkers. Despite this, Keeran looks up to DJ and his colleagues and is always eager to please, even while he's looking for love in mostly all the wrong places.
Dayton Sinkia as Chris
Chris is One More Time Sports' newest employee. Once rival box store Sports Dynasty's pacifist security guard, Chris finds a new home at OMT, where he can finally be at ease and embrace his natural holistic self.
Nadine Bhabha as Gwen
Gwen is a server at Angry Al's, the bar next door to One More Time. Fun and easy to talk to, Gwen is often a sounding board for DJ, who is clearly infatuated with her. Gwen has spent most of her life in Korverton and yearns to expand her horizons.
Maddy Foley as Nat
Nat is DJ's rideshare-driving, doomsday-prepping, dumpster-diving anarchist little sister. Chaos driving a lemon, Nat is as outrageous as she is radical, and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
Chris Robinson as Josh
Josh is a bartender at Angry Al's, and DJ's best friend. The two met in high school and have remained each other's hype men ever since. Josh's loyalty to DJ runs deep, with a willingness to do whatever his best friend asks, without any hesitation or clarifying questions.
Marito Lopez as Carlito
Carlito is the manager of Sports Dynasty, One More Time Sports' big box store rival. Once an OMT employee, Carlito quit when DJ was promoted to manager over him and has remained ferociously bitter about it ever since.
