As Schitt's Creek bid farewell, closing a chapter of the saga that has kept its legion of fans entertained for six glorious seasons, avid followers from all walks of life took to social media to gush.

Commenting, tweeting, 'gramming and using memes to express their feelings while celebrating and mourning the end of the little Canadian show that could, celebrities were feeling it all.

We're crying too Mariah Carey.

The finale was emotional in all kinds of ways and, to be honest, I'm not sure if we'll recover any time soon. However, in the Schitt's Creek documentary special, Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, Dan Levy did say: "I've been telling people that we're not necessarily saying goodbye... the magic of TV is that these characters live on," so we remain hopeful.

Nicole Kidman enjoyed the laughs. She wrote in her Instagram story: "Thank you to @instadanlevy, #EugeneLevy and the entire cast and crew of #SchittsCreek for making me laugh the past six years! We'll miss you xx."
