Catherine O'Hara gives Schitt's Creek fans a vocabulary lesson on Instagram
A recap of all the fun that unfolded when Schitt's Creek's Moira Rose went live
This was the moment that every Schitt's Creek fan was waiting for — television's very own Moira Rose (Catherine O'Hara) went live on Instagram via @schittscreek on Monday, April 6 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Nearly 7,500 fans of the hit award-winning comedy series interacted with the fabulous O'Hara as she taught them the strange and outlandish words said by her character Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek.
The character of Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek has garnered O'Hara multiple accolades including a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role for four consecutive years (2016-2019) and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series to name a few.
The fans were thrilled to see O'Hara as it was her first time live on social media. She pulled out a notebook and said, "The rule is to not be consistent when it comes to speaking like Moira Rose."
"Doddymite" (baby), "crapulous" (foul mouthed), "fimble famble" (lies) are just a few of the multitude of Moira Rose terms that caught our ears as O'Hara devotedly read them out from her notebook.
"I hope you're taking notes!" said O'Hara enthusiastically.
Here's the livestream, in case you missed out!
Addressing the tuned in Schitt's Creek fans as an "entourage of fairies", O'Hara showed them the books Foyle's Philavery - A Treasury of Unusual Words and Mrs Byrne's Dictionary which were a source of inspiration for Moira Rose's vocabulary.
"Don't be carnaptious. Spread warmth around you," was the advice O'Hara shared to keep us going in these times.
"Soon there will be contiguity (closeness), that we are used to. And we will hold each other and be able to sauviate (kiss) once again." On this beautiful note, O'Hara signed off with a 'caw caw' for all the Schitt's Creek fans, wrapping up 36 minutes of a delightful livestream.
O'Hara, along with the other cast members of Schitt's Creek, have been going live on Instagram during the past week with the aim not only to spread joy, but to raise funds for food security organisations in Canada and the United States of America.
Don't forget to tune in to the series finale of Schitt's Creek tonight, April 7 at 8.00p.m (8:30NT) only on CBC!
