The 37-year-old from Richmond, B.C., is a two-time Olympian and seven-time Canadian champion in parallel giant slalom, and had three podium performances on the World Cup circuit.
"Alexa has been a trailblazer for women in snowboarding, leading the path and motivating younger alpine snowboarders to strap up and snowboard," Robert Jones, Canada Snowboard's high performance director, said in a release. "Alexa leaves a strong legacy to women's snowboarding ... We hope that she will, in some way, continue to share her passion for snowboarding in the community."
