Vancouver's Vasek Pospisil was among seven Canadians awarded main-draw berths Wednesday for the Rogers Cup tennis tournaments.

Tennis Canada named Pospisil, Philip Bester, Frank Dancevic, Filip Peliwo as wild-card entrants for the men's Rogers Cup, which starts Friday in Montreal.

Francoise Abanda, Gabriela Dabrowski, and Carol Zhao were given spots in the women's event, which begins Saturday in Toronto.

Men's No. 10 Milos Raonic and women's No. 25 Eugenie Bouchard previously earned spots in their respective tournaments as the top-ranked players in Canada.

Pospisil, ranked 49th in the world, recently advanced into the Wimbledon quarter-finals — his best career performance at a major.

He advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Rogers Cup, losing to Raonic.

Bester, form North Vancouver, B.C., advanced to the final of the Granby National Bank Challenger last week and has seen his ATP ranking jump from 582 to 225.

Dancevic, from Niagara Falls, Ont., will be competing in his 13th Rogers Cup. He reached the quarter-finals in 2007, losing to Rafael Nadal.

Vancouver's Peliwo recently made his Davis Cup debut in Canada's quarter-final tie against Belgium. The 2012 junior Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion reached the second round of the Rogers Cup in 2013.

Abanda, and 18-year-old from Montreal, is a former junior standout who picked up her first Top 30 win at Canada's Fed Cup tie versus Romania earlier this year.

Ottawa's Dabrowski and Zhao, of Richmond Hill, Ont., recently teamed up to win the gold medal in women's doubles tennis at the Pan American Games in Toronto. Dabrowski also won gold in the women's singles event.
