Canadian fans stand behind Milos Raonic after loss in Wimbledon final

The 2016 Wimbledon final between Milos Raonic and Andy Murray drew a large social crowd and reaction in the sports world.

Milos Raonic's run at the 2016 edition of Wimbledon ended at the hands of Andy Murray on Sunday.

Raonic made Canadian tennis history after defeating Roger Federer in their Wimbledon semifinal match, but the 25-year-old from Thornhill, Ont., couldn't keep the momentum going against Murray.

Despite the heart-breaking loss, Raonic has made a name for himself in a variety of different ways in this year's competition at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club.

Aside from Raonic's previous Grand Slam semifinal loss to Murray in this year's Australian Open, it was a pretty even playing ground between the two tennis stars.

Prior to today's final, Raonic's 37-8 record on the 2016 season wasn't far off from Murray's 39-6, making it a match that even the most important fans could not miss.

Maybe all the A-list celebrities didn't want to miss a 236 km/h (147 mph) Raonic serve...

Or defensive mastermind Andy Murray return them.

Both players were faced with pressure going into today's final. For Andy Murray, a loss would lead to more horrifying (but entertaining) Brexit jokes.

For Raonic, it was all about continuing to make Canadian history.

Although Raonic didn't win this Wimbledon title, Canadian fans are standing tall and proud behind this young tennis player.

Despite a heartbreaking exit for the Canadian, one thing is for sure:

With the Wimbledon door closing, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games door will be wide open for Canadian tennis players.
