Shapovalov bounced in straight sets, Andreescu cruises into U.S. Open 4th round
Top-ranked Ash Barty stunned by Shelby Rogers, Djokovic continues historic march
No. 7-seeded Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., failed to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open after being upset in straight sets by unseeded South African Lloyd Harris on Saturday evening.
Shapovalov lost 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to Harris in two hours 13 minutes in the third-round match in New York.
After dropping the first set, Shapovalov broke Harris early to take a 3-0 lead in the second set but he could not hold on. The Canadian was again up a break in the third set but was broken right back.
The 22-year-old made nine unforced errors in the match and won 68 per cent (43 of 63) of his first serve points.

Shapovalov failed to join Canadians Leylah Fernandez, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Bianca Andreescu in the fourth round.
Harris is through to the Round of 16 at a major for the first time.
Andreescu cruises into 4th round, extends set win streak
Andreescu continues to roll along at the U.S. Open.
The sixth-seeded Andreescu defeated Belgium's Greet Minnen 6-1, 6-2 in one hour seven minutes Saturday to advance. She converted four-of-seven break opportunities to improve to 10-0 at the Grand Slam following her 2019 title.
Andreescu has also won five straight sets since losing 6-4 to Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland in Tuesday's first-round victory.
Minnen was 0-for-4 when she had the Canadian in break situations.
"I think I played really well," Andreescu said from New York. "This is what I've been working towards in practice, and I'm very pleased with my return games, with my service games, with my movement on court, also with my attitude."

Andreescu, of Mississauga, Ont., dominated the opening set, which lasted only 23 minutes. She won 93 per cent of points on her first serve and 67 per cent on her second — Minnen was 50 per cent and 29 per cent, respectively.
The Canadian also had the only two aces of the opening set and was 2-of-3 on break points.
Andreescu didn't skip a beat in the second, registering two service breaks en route to taking a commanding 4-0 lead. Even more impressive was in the second game, she rallied from 0-40 to hold serve and go up 2-0.
Minnen finally held serve in the fifth game to make it 4-1 but Andreescu also held to make it 5-1. After narrowly missing a fifth service break in the seventh game, Andreescu served the match out to advance.
21 winners, only 11 unforced errors
Andreescu was playing on the same Louis Armstrong Stadium court that Montreal's Auger-Aliassime registered his five-set win over Spains Roberto Bautista Agut on Friday.
Minnen's loss was actually her second to a Canadian in the tournament. She lost in three sets to Vancouver's Rebecca Marino in the final round of qualifying but became a lost-minute entrant after Latvian Jelena Ostapenko withdrew before the start of the tournament Monday.
By reaching the third round, Minnen earned 180,000 US.
Up next for Andreescu will be 17th-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece. The French Open semifinalist downed 10th-seeded Petra Kvitova 6-4, 6-3 as the Czech player made 34 unforced errors and had just 16 winners.
Andreescu and Sakkari last met in April at the Miami Open, with Canadian taking the match in a third-set tie-breaker.
"I'm super excited to play against her," Andreescu said. "We had a very, very tough match in Miami and I'm sure it's going to be the same.
"She's very powerful, she serves very well, she moves well and she's a fighter. But I'm also all those things so it's going to be good. I'm pumped."
Top-seeded Barty upset by Rogers
Women's No. 1 Ash Barty is out of the U.S. Open.
Shelby Rogers took the first set and rallied from three points down in the third to upset Barty 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 (5) at Arthur Ashe Stadium to reach the fourth round.
Rogers had been 0-6 lifetime against top-seeded players.
Rogers, the last American left in the women's draw, was fantastic in the third, hitting backhand winners and using a 103 mph serve to fight her way back against the reigning Wimbledon champion.

Barty had not dropped a set in the tournament but was sloppy from the start. She made 17 unforced errors in the first set and then three more when she held a 5-2 lead in the third that let Rogers back in.
Ealier Saturday, No. 4 seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic defeated Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-2 to punch her ticket to the fourth round. She'll face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia next.
Canadian Pospisil ousted in doubles tournament
The U.S. Open is over for Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver.
The Canadian and his partner Frederik Nielsen of Denmark were defeated in the men's doubles tournament in straight sets by Horia Tecau of Romania and Kevin Krawietz of Germany. The scores were 7-6 (12), 7-6 (4).
Pospisil was ousted by Ilya Ivashka of Belarus in the single's championship on Thursday, also in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 7-6[5]).
Djokovic keeps Grand Slam bid alive
Novak Djokovic's pursuit of the calendar-year Grand Slam is still alive at the U.S. Open.
Djokovic dropped the first set to Kei Nishikori before he rallied for a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Djokovic avoided a recent run of upsets at Flushing Meadows and improved to 24-0 in Grand Slam matches this season. Djokovic has won his past 17 matches against 2014 U.S. Open runner-up Nishikori.
The No. 1-seed Djokovic is the first man since Laver to claim a season's first three major trophies. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal never even got just halfway there by winning the Australian Open and French Open in the same year.
Djokovic, a 34-year-old from Serbia, shares the men's mark of 20 career major titles with Federer and Nadal, who are injured and not playing in the U.S. Open.
Zverev advances as Sock retires in 4th set
No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open when Jack Sock was forced to retire in the fourth set because of an injury.
Zverev led 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 and held a 2-1 lead when Sock had to call it quits.
Sock has been bothered by a groin injury and he was forced on his back for more than 5 minutes in the second set while a trainer worked on him.
Oscar Otte 3rd qualifier to reach 4th round
Oscar Otte has given the U.S. Open men's bracket a trio of qualifiers in the fourth round for the first time since the tournament began keeping qualifying records in 1982.
It's also the first time at any Grand Slam tournament that three male qualifiers reached Week 2 since the 1995 French Open.
Otte, a German who is ranked 144th, beat Andeas Seppi of Italy 6-3, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5. He is the lowest-ranked man to get to the fourth round in New York since No. 179 Jiri Novak in 2006.
Qualifiers Peter Gojowczyk and Botic van de Zandschulp won third-round matches Friday.
