Cameroon World Cup teammates nearly come to blows
Normally players headbutt players on the opposite team, but Cameroon’s Benoît Assou-Ekotto thought that was too conventional. He also maybe hates his teammate.
Headbutt brings back memories of Bowyer-Dyer fight
Normally players headbutt players on the opposite team, but Cameroon’s Benoît Assou-Ekotto thought that was too conventional. He also maybe hates his teammate.
That’s Assou-Ekotto initiating cranial contact with Benjamin Moukandjo. Cameroon was unsurprisingly losing 4-0 and on its way out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
It reminded a lot of people of the Lee Bowyer-Kieron Dyer fight when the two were playing for Newcastle United in 2005.
In that instance, both Bowyer and Dyer got red cards. Assou-Ekotto and Moukandjo were spared that humiliation and only have to endure global ridicule on the internet for days, and days, and days.
