Tony Fonseca ready to lead Canada in men's soccer friendlies
Canada faces Japan on March 22 and Belarus on March 25
Interim head coach Tony Fonseca will lead Canada into a pair of men's soccer friendlies in Doha, Qatar later this month.
Canada will face Japan on March 22 and Belarus on March 25 as it prepares for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament.
Fonseca, the technical director for the Canadian Soccer Association, is the latest to fill in while the CSA looks for a permanent replacement for former coach Stephen Hart.
Colin Miller took over head coaching duties during Canada's camp in January.
A former assistant with the men's national team, Fonseca was hired as the CSA's technical director in November when the organization cleaned house after Canada failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
Canada crashed out of qualifying with disastrous 8-1 loss to Honduras in Hart's last game as coach.
