Canada captain Alphonso Davies has been sidelined after suffering a muscle strain in his left hamstring in Bayern Munich's 3-0 Champions League loss at Feyenoord on Wednesday.

The German powerhouse said the injury was confirmed by a scan, adding the 24-year-old fullback from Edmonton will be out "for the time being."

Davies was substituted during first-half injury time.

Asked about Davies' condition at a news conference Friday ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga game Saturday at Freiburg, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany did not have much of an update.

"With Phonzie, I'd say let's wait a little bit. We have the first prognosis but I want to wait," said Kompany. "We'll talk about this in one of the upcoming press conferences."

However, the Bild newspaper reported Davies will be sidelined for around two weeks.

Davies has won 56 caps for Canada, including 50 starts, with 16 goals and 17 assists. His future with Bayern is up in the air with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.
