Canada loses to U.S. to finish 6th at wheelchair rugby Canada Cup

The Canadian wheelchair rugby team lost to the U.S. on Sunday to wind up the Wheelchair Rugby Canada Cup in sixth place.

The Canadian wheelchair rugby team lost 44-42 to Japan and 52-51 on Saturday at the Richmond Oval, in Richmond, B.C., dropping to 1-4 at the Wheelchair Rugby Canada Cup.

The first hard-fought contest saw the sides tied at 20 at halftime. Defending champion Japan had a 31-30 lead after the third quarter.

On Sunday, Canada lost 52-43 to the U.S. finish sixth.

Fifth-ranked Canada beat world champions Australia 58-54 to start the tournament in style, but proceeded to lose 53-51 to the top-ranked U.S., and 53-46 to European champions France.
