How to watch the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympics

Live coverage of the opening ceremony of this summer's Paralympic Games in Paris begins on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT, hosted by veteran broadcaster Scott Russell, with Paralympians Stef Reid and Summer Mortimer. Watch on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC News Network, the CBC 2024 Paris Olympic Games website and the CBC Paris 2024 app.

The opening ceremony will be presented with closed captioning, described video and ASL.

If you miss it, we've got you covered: The ceremony will also be available on-demand on CBC's dedicated Paris 2024 website, CBC Gem and through the CBC Paris 2024 app for 24 hours after the event is finished. A prime-time encore broadcast will air on CBC TV at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday and midnight ET on Friday.

These are the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, providing athletes with disabilities an opportunity to compete at the highest level on the world stage. As many as 4,400 para athletes from 180 countries — 126 from Canada — will take part in this year's Games.
