Canada's Michelle Salt scores double bronze in Para-snowboard

Calgary's Michelle Salt reached the podium twice at the Para-snowboard World Cup season opener in Landgraaf, Netherlands earlier this week.

The 32-year-old was part of a good result by the Canadian team, which also included top-10 finishes by Montreal's Sandrine Hamel (4th, 4th), John Leslie, of Arnprior, Ont., (6th, 5th), Alex Massie, from Barrie, Ont., (7th, 8th), and Curt Minard, of Vernon, B.C., (6th, 7th) through the first two events on the circuit held Wednesday and Thursday.  

Salt also finished third at the Europa Cup on Tuesday, but said she wasn't focused on hauling in a medal. 

"For the first time in a long time, I wasn't focused on a podium finish, instead I just focused on having a good time," said Salt. 

"I set personal goals the last three days and am very happy I was able to achieve those goals thanks to the support of my sponsors, teammates, and coaches."

The team will now head to Austria for a training camp before heading to Finland for a pair of Para-snowboardcross World Cups, with qualifiation to Winter Paralypic Games in PyeongChang on the line.
