Canada's Eliot Grondin earned bronze on Saturday in World Cup men's snowboard cross action in Italy.

Sainte-Marie, Que., native won gold in 1st event of the season

Canada's Eliot Grondin earned bronze on Saturday in World Cup men's snowboard cross action in Italy.

The Sainte-Marie, Que., native finished behind Australia's Adam Lambert, who grabbed silver, and Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle, the reigning Olympic champion, who took gold.

It was the second World Cup competition of the season for the 22-year-old Grondin.

He won the season-opening event on Dec. 3 in France.

Eliot Grondin of Sainte-Marie, Que., claimed the bronze medal at Saturday's World Cup snowboard cross race in Cervinia, Italy.

Grondin was the Olympic silver medallist at the 2022 Beijing Games.

He also teamed with Meryeta O'Dine for bronze in the inaugural mixed team event.
