Canada's short track power couple struck gold again at a World Cup event in Dresden, Germany on Sunday.

A day after Marianne St-Gelais and Charles Hamelin took gold in the women's and men's 1,000-metre event, the two each won their respective 500 finals.

St-Gelais captured the women's race in 43.080 seconds, while Britain's Elise Christie took silver and Dutch skater Lara van Ruijven captured bronze.

"It was a good race because I had two game plans and I was able to go through with one of them," St-Gelais said.

"I didn't panic and I adjusted my racing line as well as the way I was applying pressure on my blades."

Hamelin finished the men's race in 40.251 to get by Russian skaters Semion Elistratov and Dmitry Migunov.

"I was able to come up with times that were close to my personal best. In the semifinal, I skated a 40.09, which I hadn't done since Calgary in 2012 I think," Hamelin said. "I was able to get a good feel for the Russians' strategy behind me and to counter their attacks on the way to gold."

Their Canadian teammate Alexander Fathoullin later won silver in the men's 1,500 final.

Hamelin and Fathoullin also helped add to the overall medal haul in the men's relay.

The Canadian team of Hamelin, Fathoullin, Charles Cournoyer, and Samuel Girard took silver in the 5,000 relay event, finishing just behind Russia, while edging the U.S., who took bronze.

"To go back home with two gold medals and a silver in the relay, it gives me a great confidence boost looking ahead to the World Championships, for sure," Hamelin said.

"That was the goal, to come up with impeccable performances here in order to go to Seoul in the right frame of mind."
