Marielle Thompson showed why she's the overall leader in women's World Cup ski cross with a dominant effort in Watles, Italy on Sunday.

Thompson jumped out to an early lead in the big final and held that advantage the rest of the way, en route to her fourth win of the season. 

The Olympic champion from North Vancouver, B.C., wasn't the only Canadian to land on the podium on Sunday, with Calgary's Brady Leman notching his second silver-medal result in as many days and fourth podium finish on the season.

The Calgary, Alberta, native finished second overall in the big final on Sunday at a ski cross event in Italy, for his second silver medal in two days.

Switzerland's Fanny Smith was second and Marielle Berger Sabbatel of France finished third in the women's race, while Switzerland's Alex Fiva won the men's event, followed by Leman and Armin Niederer, also from Switzerland. 

The World Cup ski cross circuit will resume on Feb. 4 in Feldberg, Austria.
