Kaya Turski's long-awaited return to freestyle skiing is on hold.

The 27-year-old Montreal native was preparing for this week's Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colo., when she broke her left arm on Monday during a training session.

Turski reportedly will be sidelined four to six weeks after sitting out the past 18 months to recuperate from injuries.

During her recovery, the three-time X-Games title holder had set her sights on qualifying and competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics, with this week's Dew Tour stop and the X Games in January her immediate focus.

"I think this is going to be a big training year for myself and many people on tour," Turski was quoted as saying in story on freestyleski.com last week. "The X Games is the most important event for me this year."

Turski, one of the world's most decorated slopestyle skiers, last competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics following knee surgery. Physically and mentally exhausted after competing in Sochi, Russia, it was time for a break.

In August 2013, Turski tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee for a third time and had surgery.

She returned five months later in Aspen, Colo., winning her eighth X Games gold medal, but pain returned in Turski's right knee in Sochi, where she finished 19th.
