Canadian ice dance pair Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir continued their domination of the discipline by taking gold with another world record at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating's NHK Trophy event in Sapporo, Japan on Sunday.

Virtue and Moir blew their competition away with a world record total score of 195.84 after posting a season-best result of 116.37 in the free program to top France's Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron. Italy's Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte were third.

The previous world record was 195.52, which was set by Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

"Grand Prix Final is an event that we're excited for," Moir said. "We're pleased that with this result we qualify and we just gotta keep going.

"We're excited and already looking down the road to 2018 Pyeongchang. We just want to keep building our skating until then."

The Canadians also set a world record with their short program on Saturday.

Virtue and Moir will compete next at the Grand Prix Final in Marseille, France, from Dec. 8-11.
