Bandaged and bloodstained, two skaters refused to quit and returned to the ice to give it their all on Saturday – and it wasn't on an NHL rink.
Reigning world and Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu got into an ugly collision with China's Yan Han during the men's free skate warmup at the Cup of China on Saturday. Neither was looking in the other's direction, then slammed full speed into one another before tumbling to the ice.
Both were dazed and bloodied, but refused to withdraw from the competition. Hanyu, with his head wrapped in blood-stained bandages, struggled in his skate but still managed to earn a silver medal. Yan finished sixth.
