Alex Harvey leads Canadian skiers to 13th at cross-country World Cup
Norway sweeps podium in 30km race
Canada's best cross-country skiers teamed up Sunday in Lillehammer, Norway, for the 4x7.5-kilometre relay, racing to a 13th place finish at the weekend's World Cup stop.
Devon Kershaw, a three-time Olympian for Canada, joined Alex Harvey, who was Canada's top performer on Saturday in the men's 15km, Ivan Babikov and Graeme Killick. The team finished with an overall time of one hour, fifteen minutes seven seconds, 1:41.5 back from the winning Norwegian team.
"On paper this team is top-five and we proved that yesterday with each of the guys finishing in the points," said head coach Justin Wadsworth in a press release. "We are debriefing as to what happened and can only learn from it."
Kershaw led the race for a short section during the opening leg but faded to 13th, where the team would stay until the finish.
Norway entered three teams, each which ended up on the podium. All three finished handily ahead of the fourth- and fifth-place Russian teams.
The next stop on the World Cup circuit is scheduled for Dec. 12 in Davos, Switzerland.
