Kaillie Humphries keeps bobsleigh World Cup podium streak alive
Teams with Melissa Lotholz for 7th World Cup medal in as many events this season
Kaillie Humphries has yet to miss standing on the podium after World Cup bobsleigh races this season, and that trend continued on Saturday in Switzerland.
The Calgary pilot, along with brakeman Melissa Lothholz, cruised down the natural track in St. Moritz with a combined two-run time of 2:17.29, picking up bronze.
Humphries has piloted Canada's sled to a medal in all seven World Cup events this season.
The Canadians were just 0.76 seconds behind American gold medallists Elana Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs.
Germany's Anya Schneiderheinze and Annika Drazek won silver in 2:16.91.
With one event left this season, Humphries continues to lead the World Cup standings with a total of 1510 points. American pilot Jamie Greubel Poser – who missed the podium for the first time this season in St. Moritz – is second overall with 1452 points and Austria's Christina Hengster is third with 1354 points.
In men's competition, Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann of Switzerland took gold on their home course and were also crowned European champions.
Americans Steven Holcomb and Carlo Valdes took silver while Nico Walther and Christian Poser of Germany placed third.
Canada's Chris Spring and Lascelles Brown finished 13th, but did register the fastest combined start time in Saturday's competition.
