Says next month's athletics world championships in Moscow will be last competition
Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva says she will end her career after next month's athletics world championships in Moscow.
Isinbayeva has dominated the sport for a decade, setting 17 outdoor world records and 13 indoors. Her most recent was indoors in Stockholm in February. She won the Olympics in 2004 and 2008 and took bronze last year in London.
Isinbayeva was quoted by the R-Sport news agency as saying Tuesday that "my career will finish 100 per cent at the world championships," which will be Aug. 10-18 at Moscow's Luzhniki stadium.
She had said after the London Olympics that she hoped to compete in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
