Canada's Simoneau wins solo technical gold on home soil in World Cup artistic swimming
Canadian athletes secure 2nd medal of the day with open team technical silver
Jacqueline Simoneau, who calls the Montreal suburb of Chambly home, won the women's solo technical gold medal at the World Aquatics artistic swimming World Cup in Markham, Ont., on Friday.
The 27-year-old Simoneau finished with 246.7950 points at the Pan Am Pool, finishing ahead of China's Huiyan Xu (244.2050) and Viktoria Reichova (203.2616) of Slovakia.
Canadian athletes secured the second medal of the day with a open team technical silver, finishing with a score of 269.6484 points.
The U.S. took bronze.
The World Cup returns on Saturday with the women duet technical, women solo free, men solo free and open team free events before the final day of competition on Sunday.
