Pair of Canadians miss cut in men's snowboard parallel giant slalom

Canadian snowboarders Jasey-Jay Anderson and Darren Gardner missed the cut in the men's parallel giant slalom competition Saturday at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Anderson finished 24th in the 32-man field in one minute 26.76 seconds while Gardner was 28th in 1:26.94.
The top 16 competitors advanced to the afternoon elimination rounds at Phoenix Park.
The 42-year-old Anderson, who won a World Cup event a month ago, is the only Canadian to compete in six different Winter Olympics.The Mont-Tremblant, Que., won Olympic gold at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Anderson said after that course conditions affected his race.
"I don't know what to say. Honestly I'm mad because they didn't maintain the course for the first run," he said.
He also mentioned that his coach could have prepared him better for that problem.
"I just never expected that they wouldn't groom it, and unfortunately my coaches didn't pick up on that. There's one that just starting with us and they don't really know what to look for. So it's hard," said Anderson. "You can't blame anyone else but the organization and I imagine at a certain point I want to take the blame. But I was ready."
Anderson went on to admit he made a mistake in the final run that killed his chances in qualifying.
The 27-year-old Gardner, from Burlington, Ont., was making his Olympic debut.
